Audrey Elizabeth Corder Burnett, 94, of Louisville, passed from this world into the presence of her Lord and Savior on January 6, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Lee Burnett of 63 ½ years, and by her parents, Elmer Corder and Bonnie K. Bell Corder.
Audrey has two children, a daughter, Linda "Lyn" Lee Watson (Tom), and a son, William "Bill" Hoyt Burnett (Carla). Four Grandchildren: Tonya Lee Groves (Greg), Tracy Lynn Leffler (Lonnie), Eric Brandon Burnett, and Shawna Nicole Whitworth (Brian). Seven great grandchildren: Kayla Lee Groves, Matthew Connor Groves, Michael Colton Groves, Elaine "Laine" Marie Leffler, Thomas Hagan Leffler, Tally Elizabeth Leffler, and Brooks Michael Whitworth. Two brother in-laws, Harold Burnett (Marlene) and Ed Burnett (Judy), a sister in-law Juanita Burnett Kennedy (Glen) with numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Wayne County High School and attended the University of Cincinnati, University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. She taught school for a number of years, some of it in a one room schoolhouse. She worked with her husband in his many businesses. As a founding member of Green Acres Baptist Church she taught Sunday School, VBS, and she was a Girl Scout leader. She had a soft spot in her heart for children and their well being. She was a loving mother, wonderful Christian example, and truly a gentile, Southern Lady.
Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Sunday, January 12th at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. The funeral service will be at 12pm on Monday, January 13th, with guest gathering at the funeral home at 11am. Her burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
