Abraham served as Captain in the 1st Canadian regiment under his brother, Col James Livingston's, command from 1776-1779. He later served as Captain in the New York Levies. Abraham was present at both battles of Saratoga. The regiment consisted of Canadian and Nova Scotia refugees; was involved in the attack on Quebec and the battle of Monmouth.

Abraham was baptized 3 Oct 1753 at the New Amsterdam (New York City) New York Reformed Dutch Church, son of John and Catherine (Ten Broeck) Livingston {WITNESSES OF THE BAPTISM:Cornelius Ten Broek, Margareta Ten Broek}. Catherine was the daughter of General Ten Broeck. John was the son of James and Margaretta (Schuyler) Livingston. Margaretta was the daughter of Col. Peter and Maria (Van Rensselaer) Schuyler, first mayor of Albany.

Abraham married Maria Peebles (Peeples, Peoples)of Halfmoon, NY on February 13, 1782 at the Schaghticoke, New York Dutch Reformed Church in Albany Co. and they settled at Stillwater, near the battleground.

They had the following children:
1) Elizabeth Livingston Hubbard (1782-1807)
2) Angelica Livingston (abt 1785-____) died young.
3) Catharine Livingston Mather (1787-1855)
4) Rosanna Livingston Schuyler (1790-1857)
5) John Peebles Livingston (1792-1852)
6) Maria Livingston O'Donnell (1795-1867)
7) Jane Livingston Williams (1797-1844)
8) Thomas Livingston (1800-1809) drowned at the age of 9.
