Dorothy Jane Johnson, of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the age of 95.

Dorothy was born in Mason, Texas, on July 5, 1922, to Ben and Alma Carson. She spent her entire life in Brady and Mason, except for AJ's service in the Army Air Corp from September 1, 1942, until November 25, 1945.

Dorothy married AJ Johnson in Fredericksburg, Texas, on September 20, 1941, and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Ron and Gary. Ron was born in Roswell, NM, and Gary in Brady, TX. Both AJ and Dorothy were members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was active in the church and the P.T.A. She enjoyed painting and by 13, she had painted some remarkable pieces of art.

After World War II, AJ and Dorothy moved back to Mason on the home place and lived there until both went to be with the Lord. Dorothy worked alongside AJ in farming peanuts, cotton, pecans and sweet potatoes. At one time, they raised more than 500 head of hogs a year. Dorothy was not only a hard worker; but, a wonderful wife and loving mother to her boys.

Dorothy is survived by her son Ron and wife Dottie; Gary and wife Terry; four grandchildren - McKenna Johnson, Terry Johnson and wife Carmen, Tate Johnson, and Tamara Thompson and husband Roy. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Chelsea Johnson, Jessica Canady and husband Brandon, Clay Johnson, Joshua Thompson, and Hadley Osteen. She is also survived by one great-great-grandchild, Harper Canady.

If you judge success by love for her family, she was a 10! She was preceded in death by her husband, AJ Johnson, sister Enelma Draper, and brother James Dale Carson.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy Jane Johnson may be made to the Patriot Warrior Foundation, 1766 E State Highway 29, Mason, TX 76856.
