A heart attack suffered last night at his home near Mound Valley proved fatal to Carlos Bradfield, lifelong Labette County farmer. He died at 8:30 am in Mercy Hospital in Parsons a short time after his admittance. He was 61. Bradfield had experienced trouble the past week and suffered several light attacks. He was born Feb. 25, 1894, at Montana. He grew to manhood and farmed in that area until moving to a farm north of Mound Valley in 1945. He was married to Mattie Cook on Oct. 26, 1916, at Sherman City. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Louise Romine, P. 2. Oswego; Mrs. Doris Allen, R. 4, Parsons; Mrs. Wilma Blackburn, Parsons, and Miss Ila Bradfield, of Topeka; four sons, Doyle, R. 1, Oswego; Warren, Paola; Carlos Jr., Liberal, and Lonnie, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Flo Nelson, Manzanola, Colo.; Miss Ferne Bradfield, Chicago, and Mrs. Goldie Reich, Fresno, Calif.; one brother, Jewel Bradfield, Detroit; and 15 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Washburn-Blossom Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn. Friends may call at the funeral home.
