California Pioneer of 1848. One of the first and most esteemed settlers in the Consumnes Valley. Son of Thomas Pollock and Rebecca Simpson. James was killed when his horse bolted and he was thrown from his wagon while on a trip to Sacramento.

The Pollock family spent 3 years crossing the Plains, spending one winter in Council Bluffs, and another in Salt Lake City. They settled near Michigan Bar on 400 acres.
