Asa Cooke was the son of Jacob Cooke and Phebe Hall. Asa was listed in the Poll List of Mendham Twp., Morris, N.J. May 1776. Francis Cooke of the Mayflower, The first Five Generations, Ralph V. Woods, Jr. p 421: Asa Cooke died intestate in Morris County, NJ before April 16, 1777. On 16 April 1777, John Cooke [possibly the John Cooke who was Asa's 1/2 brother], Luce Anna Cooke, and David Thompson [a founder and elder of the Hilltop Presbyterian church at Mendham] were named administrators. "Luce Anna" was probably Asa's widow; Lusannah Bryant Cooke. Genealogical and biographical of the state of New Jersey...1910 p 1117: David Thompson was a founder of the Presbyterian church at Mendham, and served in the capacity of elder during the greater part of his life.

Asa Cooke and Lusannah Bryant were married 16 Oct 1742 in Kingston, Plymouth, Massachusetts. They were the parents of Solomon b November, 1743, Kingston, Plymouth, MA [VR Kingston, p 46], and assumed parents of at least Stephen b 1751, Lucy b 1753, Lydia b abt 1758 [these latter three children based on corroborating evidence and DNA matching], and possibly Ziba Cooke.
