Robert Wayne Arthur, age 73 years, a resident of Metropolis and a former resident of Buncombe, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 2, 2020 at 1PM at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.
Robert was born on February 5, 1946 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was the son of Robert and Ruth (Vest) Arthur.
He is survived by his children- Melissa (Cameron) of Metropolis, Kim (Stephan) of Paducah, Kentucky, Vickie (Tony) of Lynchburg, Virginia and R W (S) Arthur, Jr. of Rustburg, Virginia; 10 grandchildren and a sister- Priscilla of Lynchburg, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by: his grandmother- Lillian Dooley; his sister and brother-in-law - Faye (James) Hall; his aunt and uncle Della (Donald) Gurley; his brother-in-law- O.T. Tyree and a dear and close friend- Caroline Hamilton.
Robert was a self-employed construction laborer.
In his spare time Robert enjoyed going fishing, wood working and working on cars. He was excellent at growing his own vegetables and gardening.
Robert liked to watch football and basketball games. He especially liked to watch his grandchildren playing sports.
In accordance with Robert’s wishes there will be no public visitation or service.
