My mother suffered a heat stroke in 1996 that was the onset of her illness. She began losing memories, time, item's and thoughts. She would forget who she was talking to and would often become frustrated and angered over small things. She became extremely depressed, cried a lot and stopped caring for herself. This downfall was gradual and went on for several years. In 2002 she and my father left their home in Farmville Va.to live with my eldest sister Brenda and within week's Mom was hospitalized with blood clots throughout her body. She lived with my sister in her home until 2005 at which time due to her deteriorating condition was placed in the Hanover Nursing home. She declined rapidly in their care(though the nursing home gave her excellent care)and on April 15th 2007 she passed away from a Coronary Embolism.
If you suspect that someone you love is suffering with any form of Dementia or Alzheimer's take them immediately for testing and treatment. New drugs exist now that can put these diseases into remission and give our loved one's a longer lifespan. They may not retain memories lost, but they will stop losing what they do have. Not a day goes by I don't wish someone would have listened to me when I told them she was sick with this. Denial doesn't help them nor bring them back after you lose them.
