Asa Gardner Killed in Automobile Wreck

Fargo, Aug. 15 - A message received here this afternoon from Beulah, Wyo., tells of the death
of Asa Gardner, for the past 13 years a leading businessman in New England, and recognized
throughout the western country as one of the best hustlers on the Missouri Slope. Mr. Gardner left New England Saturday morning in company with Dr. T. L. Stangebye, Mr. and Mrs. G. D. McClennan, Georgia Fitzgerald and Mildred Lawrence for a fishing trip and outing in the Black Hills.

Details are lacking, but it is understood the auto turned turtle when Mr. Gardner was driving in the hills.

The deceased is survived by his wife, five sons and three daughters, George, Gordon
and Harry Gardner make their home in New England; Mrs. Gardner and the four younger
children have been living in California the past year; one son, Dr. Chas. Gardner, is located
in Portland. For a year the deceased has been shaping his business to retire and make
his permanent home in California. A delegation of citizens left this afternoon to accompany
the remains to New England where the funeral will be held, when relatives arrive from the west.

North Dakota Man Killed in Auto Accident

A camping trip was brought to a sudden end Tuesday morning when A. C. Gardner, of New England, North Dakota, was killed by the overturning of an automobile near the LaPlanot ranch about four miles from Buelah.

A party of North Dakota people had been spending several days fishing and camping and on Tuesday morning Mr. Gardner and a companion started in a car further up the stream to fish. The companion had left the car only about five minutes before the accident happened. Mr. Gardner was going further and intended to fish back to meet his friend.

Where the accident occurred there is a fill of about seven feet and it is presumed he lost control of the car, which upset over the embankment pinning the unfortunate man beneath.

Dr. Clarenbach was summoned but life was extinct when he arrived.

Undertaker Roberts prepared the body for shipment to the home of the deceased.
