Son of Paul Leahy and Helen (Schaefer) Leahy Andersen. Raised by his mother and adoptive father, adoptive father Earl “Andy” Andersen. He married Mercy Tabaquero Vidad on October 25, 1997 in Cedar Falls.
He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1963 and earned his BA degree in Business from the University of Iowa in 1968. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was Office Manager with Weisman Steel Supply and the worked in various locations throughout the United States with Community Counseling Service. He later owned and operated Pour Richards, retiring in 2004.
Preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Allan and Kermit Andersen; and a sister, Alice Mary Morford.
