Aaron worked as a coal miner, beginning as a young boy working in the family coal mine while still in school. He retired from Amherst Coal in Lundale, West Virginia, and was a member of UMWA District 17 Union for 60 years. He married the love of his life, Effie Sifers, on July 29, 1949, and was a devoted father to their four daughters. Aaron enjoyed fishing and gardening and took great pride in his beautifully manicured lawn, for which he was recognized numerous times by the Cadiz Garden Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Woodrow Hamilton, Arnold Hamilton, Luther Hamilton, Bill Hamilton, and Ray Hamilton; and six sisters, Luvenda Ball, Hester McCown, Hazel Wallace, Virgie Adams, Ada Hawkins, and Myrleen Ferrell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Effie Sifers Hamilton of Cadiz; his daughters, Linda (Charles) Looney of Herndon, Molly (Earl) Deason of Cadiz, Vickie (Eddie) Wall of Hopkinsville, and Connie (Greg) Hamilton Oakley of Cadiz; five grandchildren, Tracy (Steven) Kelley, Andy (Stephanie) Looney, Kylie Shaw, Christopher (Leslie) Adcock, and Erin (Donnie, Jr. "Bubba") Hamilton McCraw; eight great grandchildren, Charlton Kelley, Evan Kelley, Kyndall Looney, Miles Looney, Charlie Hamilton, Sophia Pizzaro, Avery Aaron Adcock, and Christopher Allen Adcock; a sister, Rebecca Stapleton of Akron, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Al (Mary Lou) Sifers of Elkhorn City, Kentucky; and special friends and neighbors, Robert and Kathy Jensen of Cadiz.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2019, beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral service time of 1:00 PM. Rev. John Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
