Aaron Hamilton, age 89, of Cadiz, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019, peacefully at his home with his loving wife of seventy years and four girls showering him with tears and kisses. Son of the late Charlie and Rhoda (Mullins) Hamilton, he was born May 29, 1930, in Ashcamp, Kentucky, a coal town in Pike County.

Aaron worked as a coal miner, beginning as a young boy working in the family coal mine while still in school. He retired from Amherst Coal in Lundale, West Virginia, and was a member of UMWA District 17 Union for 60 years. He married the love of his life, Effie Sifers, on July 29, 1949, and was a devoted father to their four daughters. Aaron enjoyed fishing and gardening and took great pride in his beautifully manicured lawn, for which he was recognized numerous times by the Cadiz Garden Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Woodrow Hamilton, Arnold Hamilton, Luther Hamilton, Bill Hamilton, and Ray Hamilton; and six sisters, Luvenda Ball, Hester McCown, Hazel Wallace, Virgie Adams, Ada Hawkins, and Myrleen Ferrell.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Effie Sifers Hamilton of Cadiz; his daughters, Linda (Charles) Looney of Herndon, Molly (Earl) Deason of Cadiz, Vickie (Eddie) Wall of Hopkinsville, and Connie (Greg) Hamilton Oakley of Cadiz; five grandchildren, Tracy (Steven) Kelley, Andy (Stephanie) Looney, Kylie Shaw, Christopher (Leslie) Adcock, and Erin (Donnie, Jr. "Bubba") Hamilton McCraw; eight great grandchildren, Charlton Kelley, Evan Kelley, Kyndall Looney, Miles Looney, Charlie Hamilton, Sophia Pizzaro, Avery Aaron Adcock, and Christopher Allen Adcock; a sister, Rebecca Stapleton of Akron, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Al (Mary Lou) Sifers of Elkhorn City, Kentucky; and special friends and neighbors, Robert and Kathy Jensen of Cadiz.
