Obituary from the Enterprise Bulletin, Perham, MN

The following was taken from a newspaper printed at Cour D'Alene, Idaho:

Eugene Grismer, 17, a popular student and athlete of the Immaculate Heart of Mary School, and son of Mrs. Theresa M. Grismer, 801 Bancroft Avenue, died early Sunday morning of appendicitis at a local hospital. His death came as a shock to his many friends here. His father died here last August. Young Grismer was operated on last Wednesday. He had been plying on the Academy basketball team until the team disbanded for the season, almost two weeks ago. He would have graduated from the Academy in June.

He is survived by his mother, three sisters – Frances, Viola and Adeline and two brothers – Howard and Robert at home and three uncles at Mullan, ID.

Classmates and friends filled St. Thomas' Catholic Church where funeral services were held. Requiem Mass was said by Rev. J. J. Moye, CSSR. Six members of the Senior and Junior class of the Academy acted as pallbearers, while other students served on the altar. Academy students formed a guard of honor as the body was taken into church and again when it was taken from the church following Mass. Solemn Gregorian Mass was chanted by the children's choir and Miss Agnes Cope was organist. Rev. T. J. Nealson, CSSR spoke briefly.
