Susie lived most of her life in Tuscumbia, where her husband and his two brothers established the Pryor Novelty Company, a business devoted to making handcrafted native red cedar souvenirs that were distributed throughout the United States.
Following high school, Susie attended Cosmetology School in Jefferson City and then maintained a busy, popular beauty salon in her home for many years. Her infectious laugh and listening ear endeared her to everyone.
She is survived by her son, Harold Joe Pryor, MD and wife Judith (Steen) Pryor of Kansas City, her younger sister, Bonnie Tyler of Alton, IL and two grandchildren, Jennifer Jo McHugh of Deer Park, IL and John Madison Pryor of Kansas City, MO. Susie also had four great granddaughters: Lillian, Annaliza & Pryor McHugh and Mahaela Pryor, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Max Pryor, her daughter Patricia Louise Pryor Hillman and her grandson, Robert Wayne Hillman. Three of her siblings also preceded her in death: Arthur Bear, Marie Stilwell and David Bear.
Inurnment will be in the family plot at the Tuscumbia Cemetery, with a private graveside service at a later date.
