Clane B. Hale
  Clane Bates Hale was born August 20, 1911 to Edward H. and Gertrude Bates Hale in Oakley, Idaho.
  He died of a stroke at age 85, October 31, 1996 at the Johanna Nursing Home where he has received loving and compassionate care for over a year.
  He moved with his family to Salt Lake City at age 12. He graduated from LDS High School and attended University of Utah.
  He married Lucile Bradford in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 16, 1936 and had three children. He had served two local missions and as an active High Priest in the Highland Park LDS Ward.
  Survivors include his wife, Lucille; daughter, Cherie; sons, C. Bradford (Marion) and Van E. (Catherine); five granddaughters, Melissa (Brett Jewkes); Gina (Chris Eady); Jamee (Jason Kevem); Stephanie (Jared Dullum); Andrea Hale; great-grandson, Jason Eady; sisters, Ruth (Ralph Larsen); Louisa Bush and Emily (Bill Barber); brothers, Ellsworth (Dorothy); Wallace (Lucille) and Edward (Dorothy). He was preceded in death by a sister, Viola (Al Morine) and Blanche (Charles Lundquist); brother, McKay (Marion).
  Clane was well known in Salt Lake City as a restaurant owner and co-owner of the Hale Bakery, an avid sports fan and excellent tennis player, winning first place in the all church senior tournament in 1967. He was a fine chess and pool player, amazed people with his prolific ability to quote from Shakespeare, the Bible and other great works. Was a great lover of music and cinema. All who knew him loved his quiet wit, sweet nature and compassionate heart.
  Funeral services conducted Monday, November 4, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the Highland Park LDS Ward, 3535 So. Douglas (1200 East) with Bishop Brent Page officiating. Friends may call at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 So. 900 East, Salt Lake City, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mt. View Memorial Estates.
