The original burial record in the sexton ledger says Abner McGehee was born in Georgia, died age 68, no cause of death reported, and buried May 17, 1873 in the Old Cemetery as a non-resident of Columbus
From the Southern Christian Advocate newspaper, Issue of July 9, 1873: "Abner McGehee, son of James and Mary McGehee, was born in Oglethorpe co., Ga., April 23, 1807, and died at Indian Springs, Ga., May 14, 1873. He was a steward at Eufaula [Barbour County], Ala., moved to Glennville [Russell County], Ala., and later to Summerfield [Dallas County], Ala. His wife died May 27, 1864 [buried in Dallas County, AL]."

His wife died 27 May 1864 (from "Marriage and Death Notices from the Southern Christian Advocate, 1867-1878", by Brent H. Holcomb, page 221).
