Minnie was the daughter of William Newton Posey b. Sept. 1830 and Mary A. Groom. William and Mary married Oct . 19, 1854. Minnie married Charles Hale Gilliland after the death of his first wife Emma (Gulledge) Gilliland. They married Feb. 17, 1897 in Coosa County, AL. When the 1900 census was taken Minnie had one son Charlie W. Gilliland age 2. She was living at home and said she was divorced. I did find Charles Gilliland born Sept. 1854 (one year off of his birthdate) in Old Elam, AL as a prisoner at the State Penitentiary Farm Prison. Charles had been convicted of murdering his son-in-law. In 1910 Minnie and Charles were living as a married couple with a son J.D. born in 1904 and a daughter Marie born Apr. 26, 1907 and Willie b. about 1898. There were also two children John and Irena from Charles first marriage. Minnie and Charles were living next door to her brother Frank and her widowed mother Mary. Not shown in the 1910 census was James Adam Gilliland b. June 6, 1910. That census was taken in April.

A write up I found gave the following on Charles Gilliland: Charles Gilliland was found guilty of 1st Degree murder on 21 October 1897 and sentenced to life in prison for killing his son-in-law Harrison Patton, husband of Eldora Gilliland. He was pardoned by Ala. Gov. W.D. Jelks on 15 August 1903.

His Civil and Political Rights were restored by Ala. Gov. B.B. Comer on 16 June 1908.

The only child of Minnie and Charles not on FAG is Marie who married Wallace O'Kelly. She passed away May 10, 1989 in Anniston, AL. Wallace's FAG #73476719.
