Hannah Isabelle James, 85, of Cumberland and formerly of Wallace, N.C., passed away on July 11, 2020, at UPMC-Western Maryland.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1935, in Fairmont, W.Va., to the late Albert and Martha Smith. In addition to her parents, she was proceded in death by her husband, Leonard; and three sons, Leonard, Chester, and Charles.

Hannah lived to care for her home and family, spending most her time caring for her grandchildren and occasionally enjoying word search puzzles.

Hannah is survived by her son, Steven James and wife, Jane, of LaVale; two daughters, Linda James, of Mount Rainier, and Jacalyn James, Gaithersburg; four grandchildren, Sharon Largen and Harry, of Lothian, Chentell Potavin and Andrew, of Cumberland, Scott Carter and Ashley, of Romney, and Matthew James, of LaVale; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Largen, Jessica Largen, Brianna Potavin, Joseph Potavin, Scott Carter Jr., Skyler Linaburgh, and Riley Linaburgh; and special friend, Kevin.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Tuesday, July 14, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lincoln Shook officiating.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Rockfish Memorial Park in Wallace, N.C.
