George H. Anderson was a prominent figure in the California fruit industry. According to his Associated Press obituary (see e.g. the San Bernardino Sun, 13 Sept. 1925), he was born in Fairfield, Solano County, California, the son of J. Z. Anderson, a pioneer fruit grower. His brother Alden Anderson was president of Capitol National Bank of Sacramento and had served as lieutenant governor of California. He was also survived by his widow, Clara Anderson; brother Elmer Anderson of Miami, Florida; a sister, Callie Anderson of San Jose; and three children, Howard, John Z., and Elizabeth.
