Virginia Poje Province passes away on December 20, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society Olathe nursing home at the age of 101.

Virginia was born on October 10, 1918, in Maryville, Missouri. The daughter of Alice and Joe Robertson of Graham, Missouri. She graduated from Graham High School in 1936 and later graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Virginia’s first teaching experience was a Shiloh Country School, a one room school house located near Mound City, Missouri. Her career also included teaching kindergarten for eight years at Bethel Elementary in Kansas City, Kansas; four years in Oak Lawn, Illinois and seven years in Topeka, Kansas.

Virginia moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1944 and worked for Mid-Continent Airlines for two years. She met and married Edward Poje in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1961. She married Samuel Province in 1984 and he preceded her in death in 1989.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Edward J. Poje of Springfield, Illinois and her daughter, Vivian White of O.P., Kansas. Virginia has surviving grandchildren; Caroline Massey of O.P. and Ryan Crosby of Leawood, Kansas, and for great grandchildren, Tyler and Alyson Massey and Cayden and Landon Crosby.
Graveside services will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th St, Kansas City, KS 66102 on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11 am.
