Eldon Brigham Romney, 80 died May 31, 1998 following a series of strokes over several years.
He retired from the Air Force where he served in the Training Command as a pilot Instructor in World War II and a Fighter-Bomber pilot in the Korean War. He was in the original cadre of the Utah National Guard and served as the Utah recruiting officer for the Air Force Academy. He was President of the Utah Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation and served as a National Vice President. He retired from the Savings and Loan industry having served as President of the American Savings and Loan Institute and was on the National Administrative Board. He also served as President of the industry's Controllers Society, and Vice-President of the Utah Savings and Loan League. He was instrumental in bringing on-line technology to the Utah Savings and Loan Associations. He was active in the LDS Church, having served in many capacities and filling two missions. He was active in civic affairs and helped organize the Timber Lakes Property Owners Association, and was an active supporter of scouting on the local and district levels.
In 1941 he married Winifred Elaine Clive, who survives him; along with a sister, Margaret Romney Jackson Judd; a brother, Richard Paul Romney; and eight children: Ruth Powell (Theo J.), Frederic C. (Patricia), Clive J. (Bonnie), Stanley C. (Renee), Eldon C., Roslyn Reynolds (Martin J.), RaeLynne Johnson (Brian C.), and Vincent C. (Christina), 36 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Junius S. Romney; sisters, Olive R. Marshall Judd; and Kathleen R. Carpenter; and a son, Mark Clive Romney.
The family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses, and aides who have given loving care to him during his years of illness.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 8, 1998, 12 noon at the Redwood Memorial Estates 6500 So. Redwood Rd., where friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Hemophilia Foundation.
