Donald Randolph "Randy" Akers, age 77, of Wytheville, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 after a second battle with cancer. He was born in Wythe. County, the son of the late Donald and Hattie Porterfield Akers. Randy was a member of Berea Christians Church, Wytheville Moose Lodge and a member of the AMA. He was preceded in death by brother, Gene Akers, sister, Tina Marshall and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jerdie Houseman Akers of Wytheville; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa & Mike Brown of Wytheville; sisters, Judy A. Crigger, Mary Sue Akers both of Wytheville; brother, Terry Wayne Akers of Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dee Houseman of Roanoke, Shug & Lorene Houseman of Wytheville, Mavis and Bobby Jones of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held 7 P.M. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by The Reverend Gary Houseman. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 P.M. until service time or the home at any time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 1477 Carrolton Pike, Hillsville, VA 24343 or Berea Christian Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Sandra Ferguson, 500 S.
