September 9, 1918 - December 19, 2019

Cecelia (Wavra) Roberton, 101, of Grand Forks, ND., passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Valley Senior Living-Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Cecelia was born September 9, 1918, in Warren, MN., the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Rutkowski) Bieniski. Cecelia married Daniel Wavra, in 1945. Daniel's passing in 1959, left Cecelia with 3 children to raise. She went back to school, graduated from Aaker's Business College, and spent the next 20 years working for John C. Boe Insurance Company. In 1970, Cecelia married Eugene Roberton. They made their home in Grand Forks, and after retirement, wintered in Mesa, AZ.

Our mother loved crafting, whether it be crocheting, sewing, painting, making Christmas ornaments or afghans. She never sat idle. She loved playing cards, especially late nights spent with her grandchildren at the lake. She has left us all with a legacy of hard work, strength, resilience, love, and for those who knew her, a keen sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughters: Diane (Kent) Swee, Littleton, CO., Cindi (Gerard) Neil, East Grand Forks, MN.; stepchildren: Brett (Ginny) Roberton, Tequesta, FL., Sue (Tom) Domack, Fargo, ND., Kathy (Terry) Lashbrook, Clyde, MI., Dave (Gayle) Roberton, Grand Forks, ND.; sister-in-law, Loraine Bieniski, Argyle, MN.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Daniel Wavra, and Eugene Roberton; a son, Kenneth Wavra; sisters, Mary Deleski, and Staffie Pawlowski; brothers: Stanley and John.

The family would like to thank the staff of Oakcrest, for the loving care provided to our mother for the past 3 ½ years. We would like to extend a personal thank you, Juanita and Madi, who Mom looked forward to seeing every morning and evening.

The family requests that memorials be given to Valley Senior Living-Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy, in the Church, on Saturday.
Burial: Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Tabor, MN., in the spring.
