Anita R. Krausch, of Commack, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2019 at 96. The daughter of immigrants and a member of "the Greatest Generation", Anita left high school to support her family by working as a typist in Manhattan at the height of the Great Depression. After marrying her love, Fred, she moved to Long Island, established the Commack Youth Council (a teen event and leadership organization) and started a successful party-planning business. She would go on to raise four children, and eventually become known as "Aunt Anita" or "Nannie" to their families and friends. In June 2015, Anita was recognized by the New York State Board of Regents and the state legislature for a lifetime of accomplishments, awarding her a high school diploma and a proclamation at Sachem High School North's commencement that year, 74 years after she would have graduated in 1941.

Anita is joined in Heaven by her beloved husband and dance partner of 70 years, Fred, her loving parents Anthony and Maria, her dear brother James and her sister Margaret. Anita's legacy of joy and love is survived by cherished children Kathy (Ben), Karen (Don), Kevin, and Kerry a.k.a. "Chrissy" (Ken); her precious grandchildren, September, Melanie (Mike), Kelly (Dana), Timothy (Stephanie), Harrison, Kyle and Kristopher; and adored great-grandchildren Anna, Olivia, Gwendolyn, Ophelia, Alyssa, Ryan, Tyler, and Aubrey; and dearest sister Dolores (Walter) and her family. Special thanks to dear friends, loved ones and caregivers for their prayers, love, and positivity.

Anita's family invites you to celebrate her life at Commack Abbey Inc., 96 Commack Road, Commack, NY 11725 with reposing on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, with a religious service that evening at 8pm. Please also join us for a funeral service on Monday at 9am, with an internment at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
