Married Susannah Myers on 16 Feb 1837 in Clark County, Ohio.

John Huffman, second son and third child of Jacob and Catherine, was born in the large two-story log home in Bethel Twp. on 12 Dec 1812. John married Susannah Myers in Clark Co., O on 16 Feb 1837 and this couple continued to live in Ohio until 1846. John and Susannah's two oldest children, Mary Magdaline and Lewis N. were born in Clark Co. in 1838 and 1844. About 1844, John purchased 80 acres of land in Sec. 27, Salamonie Twp., Huntington Co., IN. Maro (Morris) Day states that this was "homestead land". By 1870, this farm contained the entire 160 acre SE 1/4 of Sec. 27. John Huffman and family moved to Indiana in 1846 and again per Mrs. Day, "John Huffman drove a wagon from Ohio. Susannah Myers Huffman rode behind on horseback with Uncle Lewis in front and Aunt Mary behind her". While John was clearing land and erecting a small pole cabin with a weight pole roof and four foot clapboards, he and his family lived with his brother Henry Huffman (see biography of George W. Huffman in Wells County History). Henry's home in Jackson Twp., Wells Co. was one mile due south of John's land in Huntington Co.. John next erected a hewed log house for his family and in 1859, he erected the substantial frame house that stood on the property until 1977. John died in this house "in September 1861, aged fifty years" per George W. Huffman biography. According to Mrs. Day, "John Huffman died around 50 years of age. He cut his leg with a sythe and died of gangrene". The family bible of daughter Mary M. (Huffman) Minnich, wife of John Minnich, lists John Huffman's date of death as 10 Oct 1862, which would be age 49 years and 10 months. Susannah (Myers) Huffman died at age 99 years on 10 Nov 1915, of shingles according to Mrs. Day. Susannah lived at the Mt. Zion home of John and Mary (Huffman) Minnich for several years before she died. John and Susannah are buried in the Batson Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Wells Co., In.
