Julia Ann "JoAnn" Kornegay, 85, of Bessemer, AL passed away December 19, 2019. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. JoAnn worked for Aldridge Nursery for several years. She also worked at various other jobs. She was one of the hardest working women everyone knew. JoAnn was a loving wife, devoted mother and proud "Granny". She was preceded in death by her husband, Wood Kornegay, Jr.; her son, David Wayne Kornegay, Sr. and six siblings. She is survived by her sons, Wally (Beth) Kornegay, Mack (Michele) Kornegay and Tim (Carey) Kornegay; her daughters, Nann (Josh) Vining, Letha (Billy) Pope and Christy (Sonny) McDaniel; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; her brother, Buddy Farley; her sisters, Dale (Fred) Thrasher, Hazel Boyd and Mary Clippard; her special friends, Jane Grimes, Amanda (Andy) Robinson and Aiden and Gumbo Vining. Graveside service will be Monday, December 23, 2019 at 12 Noon at Kornegay Cemetery, Adger, AL. Rev. Mike Simpson will be officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday December 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home.
