ylvia Erma Hafer, age 95, of Whitehall died Saturday, October 22, 2022 at home. She was the daughter of the late C. Harry and Annette Eckert. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rodney P. Hafer.
Sylvia grew up in Allentown where she was a 1945 graduate of Allentown High School. Sylvia worked for many years at the Bell Telephone Company and Hess Brother's Department Store. She volunteered in the PTA where she met many lifelong friends. She enjoyed shopping, baking, sitting on her patio, reading, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play. Our family is grateful to know that she is finally at peace.
She is survived by her children Jack Hafer, Dennis Hafer (Shirley Hafer), Robin Dorney (Kerry Dorney), and Robert Hafer (Lisa Lindenmuth), as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Fae Erney, and Dawn Wertman, brothers, John T. and Ronald Eckert, as well as her daughter in law, Donna Hafer.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home.
