A celebration of the life of Dr. Gene Medley, 82, of Lubbock, Texas, will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at LakeRidge Baptist Church at 4601-82nd Street in Lubbock. Pastor Raif Turner will be officiating the services. Graveside services will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, TX.

Gene went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2019, while doing what he always did...serving others. He was born December 14, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas to Jack and Mary Medley. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955 and joined the military, serving in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Gene married Martha Ruth Lambert on January 26, 1963, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He earned an Associates Degree from Jacksonville Baptist College, Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Texas Tech University, and earned a Doctorate Degree in Education from Texas Texas University in 1974. He began his career in education in 1965 as the choir director at Lubbock High School. In 1975, he served as a professor and a recruiter for Texas Tech. Gene retired in 1998 as the Director of Admissions and Records.

Dr. Medley was deeply involved in the Baptist Missionary Association. He served as the choir director at Central Baptist in Lubbock, College Ave Baptist in Levelland, and at Colonial Baptist in Lubbock. Gene served on the Boards of Jackson Baptist College, BMA Theological Seminary, and LakeRidge Baptist Church. For the past 22 years, Gene and Martha have been members of LakeRidge Baptist Church and have faithfully served in a variety of ministries. Gene loved teaching Bible Study and faithfully taught for over 50 years.

Gene loved the Lord, his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He would do anything for them. He was a great friend and a surrogate grandparent to many.
