Mabel Nichols Gentry, age 99, of Winchester Road, died Monday, January 22, 2001 in the Person Memorial Hospital. She was born in Durham County to the late Lucius Mangum and Addie Wise Bowen Nichols.
Her husband, Charles Floyd Gentry, two sons, Charles Floyd Gentry, Jr. and Lucius Jones Gentry, and a daughter Barbara Gentry Clayton preceded her in death. Mrs. Gentry was the oldest living member of the Red Mt. Baptist Church having joined in 1912.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Earl Oakley, Babs Clayton, Edna Hicks, Peggy Simpson all of Rougemont and Addie Lou Havner of Daytona Beach, Fla; 28 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; and 25 great great grandchildren.
