Jerry Dale Bennett, 66, of Abilene died Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Cottonwood Cemetery near Cross Plains with Jimmy Don Bennett officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Jerry was born August 2, 1953 in Baird to Levi and Eula (Long) Bennett.

He attended school in Cross Plains and Clyde.

He married Cheryl Bennett at Cottonwood Baptist Church on September 10, 1977.

He worked for Pancake Drilling as a roughneck and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Bennett of Abilene; three sons, Jason Levi Bennett of Tilden, Shawn Bennett and wife Rachel of Roscoe and Jimmy Don Bennett and wife Lesley of Sweetwater; two brothers, Leo Weldon Bennett and wife Linda of Lake Brownwood and Billy Don Bennett and wife Frances of Abilene and ten grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dee Elvert and two sisters, Laverne Nigar and Linda Strange.
