Gladys Irene Sale, 97, of Pine Mountain, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, December 13, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Pine Mountain with the Rev. Kaylen Short officiating. Private interment will be in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Sale was born December 20, 1921 in Clarksville, TN, the daughter of Thomas J. Nelson and Lillie Boaz Nelson. She grew up in Clarksville, TN, where she met and married Army Sergeant John Lee Sale in 1951. Most of their military years were spent near Fort Benning, GA, except for a several-year post in Germany. Following their return to the States, and Mr. Sale's 1967 retirement from the Army, the couple moved to Pine Mountain, where they worked side-by-side for over 25 years raising and training world-class hunting dogs for Callaway Gardens.

Mrs. Sale will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, especially gardening, Purple Martins, Bluebirds, and dogs. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pine Mountain. Mrs. Sale was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and four siblings, Frances Suiter, Mae Powers, Thomas Nelson and Martha Nelson, all of Clarksville, TN.

Survivors include her sister, Connie Boisclair and her husband, Ron of Birmingham, AL and many nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted at the church, or those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Harris County.
