Funeral services for Alice Marie Rockett, age 78 of Spearsville, LA, was held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Spearsville Baptist Church with Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial followed in Spearsville City Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA .

Mrs. Rockett was born May 31, 1941, in Crenshaw, MS. She died in Ruston, December 10, 2019. Marie graduated from Bernice High School. She worked at Triward Hospital as an LPN and retired after 36 years of dedicated service. Marie was passionate about her work and treated all her patients with the utmost care and love. She was a member of Spearsville Baptist Church. Marie enjoyed reading, shopping, spending time with and cooking for her family and friends and loving her dog, Major Frank. She was an exceptionally caring daughter, wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Rockett; daughter, Phylliss Rockett Gresham and parents Lynn and Clemmie May Couch.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy and husband Ted Johnston; son, Todd Rockett; three granddaughters: Kristy and husband Sean Landry, Kamryn Phyllis Rockett and Lacey and husband Jason Perry; grandson, T. J. Johnston and wife LeaAnne; two great grandsons Logan and Landon; great granddaughters Alyssa and Jacey Jo; brother, Bobby Couch and wife Ruth Ann; sister in law Saundra and husband Jack Bays as well as many nieces and nephews.

The relationship between Marie and her son-in-law, Ted was very special. Ted was devoted to taking excellent care of Marie during the last eight years at home and especially during the last nine months of her lengthy illness.

Serving as pallbearers were: Jeff Johnson, David Henderson, Bill Sanders, Scott Barron, T.J. Johnston, and Brad Kimbell. Serving as honorary pallbearers are members of the Spearsville Baptist Church Ruth Sunday School Class.

Visitation was from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time Saturday at Spearsville Baptist Church in Spearsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spearsville Baptist Church in Memory of Marie.
