Barry Van Sharpe was born on May 29, 1955, in San Jose, California, and departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 60.
Barry, the son of Haskell Barnett and Letha Frances Sellers Sharpe, was a resident of Shawnee. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree and worked as an electronics technician.
He married Carlene Logen in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Barry was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church.
He enjoyed acting, reading and was a history buff, particularly presidential history. He was very interested in bees.
Barry’s parents and brother, Bobby Ray Sharpe preceded him in death. Barry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carlene Sharpe of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Ladawn Vasquez of Shawnee, Robert Lee and Kathy Vasquez of Jacksonville, Florida and Brian Haskell Sharpe of Shawnee; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Gail and Richard Amstutz of Pocola and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Deer Creek Baptist Church in Stroud with Bro. Mike Haines officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
