Services for Jake Cain, 60, 5606 Huse St. Houston, were conducted Monday in the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Lola Lane officiating and burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Cain was born July 23, 1917, in Mabank, TX, and died Sept. 8 1977 in the VA Hospital in Houston Thursday night. He was a retired carpenter and had resided in Houston for the past 14 years. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a Baptist.

Survivors: wife, Edna of Houston; sons Robert C. (Bob) of Houston, and Mike of Topeka, KS; daughters, Linda Steele, Janice Semple, and Julie Ann, all of Topeka, KS: step-son Paul Jackson of Michigan; mother Mrs. Myrtie Cain of Mabank, TX; sisters, Mildred Hambrick of Lufkin, TX, and Alice Havard of Corrigan, TX; brothers, E.J. of Houston and Sam of Kennard, TX; 9 grandchildren.
