Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Patricia; his children, Raymond Abell, Alfred (Sandra) Abell, (Maurice) Carolyn Jones, and George (Kathy) Abell; four stepchildren, Timothy (Karen) Niggle, Philip (Lourdes) Niggle, Gregory (Linda) Niggle, and Laura (John) Plunkett; 16 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, JP, Pike and Wayne Abell; his sister, Mary Young; and brother, Frank Abell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Abell; brothers, John and Nace Abell; and his sister, Ella Jean Martin.

Services were entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Funeral Homes of Indianapolis, Indiana.
