He moved to Caribou with his parents at the age of 10 and attended Caribou schools. He was a graduate of Doe's Business College at Bangor and of the New England Institute of Embalming in Boston, Mass.

He was a licensed mortician for 55 years, was a member of the Caribou United Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a 40-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a past noble grand of the Caribou IOOF, a member of the Caribou Rotary Club, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Maine Funeral Director's Association, and was a past president of the Northern Maine Funeral Directors' Association. He was a partner in the Morgan Funeral Home, the Caribou Theater and the former G.M. Morgan Furniture Co.
