Robert Allen Friesen was born in Klamath Falls, OR, on May 14, 1941. He passed away in Medford, OR, on Monday, December 2, 2019. Al was raised in Grants Pass, OR, and Eureka, CA, where he graduated from high school in 1959. He worked for Olsen's Mill in Eureka, CA, pulling green chain and various other positions until he moved to Medford in April of 1961. In January of 1962, Al enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and soon after, on March 21st, married his sweetheart Deana Brown from Medford, OR. Al owned his own janitorial business and later started his own construction company, RA Friesen Construction and Gutter Systems. In 1991 he became a pastor at Apostolic Faith Church where he was a lifelong member. He pastored in Denver, CO, Chehalis, WA, and Medford, OR, where he retired of his pastoral duties in 2001. He then went to Portland, OR, where he served as a visitation minister to the senior congregation until May 2011. Al and Deana then moved back to Medford, OR, to be near their family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deana; three siblings, Ted Friesen, Kathy Owen, and Susan Baltzell; four children, Julie (Ted) Joli, Wendy (Dave) Williams, Scott (Keri) Friesen, Lisa (Troy) Niemeyer, ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Throughout his entire life he was a friend to all and known for his encouraging spirit and unique sense of humor. He was loved by many and will live in our hearts forever.
