Eloise Belle (Holmes) McCarty, 78, of Independence, Kansas passed away peacefully at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

Eloise was born on March 7, 1941 in Independence, Kansas to Alvin and Mabel (Hendrix) Holmes. She attended Jefferson School for eight years and then attended and graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville in 1959. On March 16, 1962 Eloise married Virgil "Wilke" McCarty. The two made their home in Jefferson for three years and then moved to Independence in 1966. Eloise worked at Mercy Hospital for ten years and then McDonald's for nine years. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Independence. Eloise enjoyed working cross-word puzzles, needlework and writing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Eloise's memory will carry on with her sons, Virgil "Eric" and wife Kara, Delmer and wife Linda, daughter, Sandra, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A celebration of Eloise's life will be held at the Church of the Brethren in Independence, Kansas on Tuesday, December 10th at 2:00 PM under the direction of Potts Chapel. Memorial can be left in Eloise's name to the Church of the Brethren.
