Polish Monarch. He reigned as King Stanislaw I of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1704 to 1709 and then again from 1733 to 1736. He was also the last Duke of Lorraine. He married Catherine Opalinska in May 1698 and this union produced a daughter, Anna Leszczynska, who later married King Louis XV of France. In 1749 he published a book, "Free Voice to Make Freedom Safe", an outline of his proposed changes in the Polish constitution. He died as a result of burns received in his home at the age of 88. Originally interred at the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours in Nancy, France, following the French Revolution his remains were brought back to Poland and reinterred in the royal tomb of the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow, Poland. He was the longest living Polish king.
