Joyce Ann Sanders (nee: Canada), 64 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Westbrook Nursing Home in Westlake following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 31, 1954, in Amherst, Ohio. Joyce was raised in Oberlin, graduating from Oberlin High School. She had made her home in Wakeman and Oberlin before moving to Amherst where she had resided for the last six months.
Joyce was employed at Oberlin College as a Custodian for over twenty years. She loved being outdoors enjoying nature and could often be found shopping for antiques. She will always be remembered as kind and helpful woman who was loved by her family and friends
Survivors include her husband of twenty years Kenneth Vernon Sanders; her daughter Tina Harmeling and her step daughter Rebecca Sanders both of Oberlin; her mother Shirley Canada (nee: Henes) of Oberlin; grandchildren Cassandra Gadberry, Michael Bakhit and Mowery Bungard; her in laws Larry (Beth) Sanders of Wakeman, Nancy Harwick (Jerry) of Wakeman and Beverly Piecraft (Dan) of Oberlin; three brothers and four sisters as well as a large number of treasured extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her father James L. Canada in 1998, as well as by her brother James in 2019.
