HARRY B. FRENCH FUNERAL RITES BEING ARRANGED.
Mrs. Perry Davis of Lake township has received word of the death of her brother, Harry Burton French 59, which occurred Saturday at the naval hospital in Bremerton, Wash. Mr. French had been confined to the hospital since Nov. 29, 1946, and Mrs. Davis was called to Washington twice during his illness.
The body is being returned to the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home in Muscatine later this week. Arrangements from funeral services are incomplete. Burial will be in the Oakdale cemetery in Davenport.
Mr. French enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the spring of 1907 and made a trip around the world with the U.S.Fleet in 1907 and 1908. He served 16 years on active duty with the Navy, being assigned to a transport carrying food to Europe during the first World War. He completed his 30 years service with the Naval Reserve and spent the second World War at the naval supply depot in Seattle, wash.
The son of Mrs. and Mrs. Eugene Cole French, he was born Nov. 1, 1887, at Villisca, Ia. He resided for some time in Davenport and Bettendorf, but had made his home on the west coast for the past 20 years and for the past 17 years in Seattle.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Davis of Lake township and Mrs. Beulah Kemper R.R.3, one brother, Verrick O. French of Laurel, Md.; eight nieces and five nephews. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
