He graduated from Rushville High School in 1940 and married Beatrice Marie Shane on September 12, 1943 in Rushville, Indiana. Mrs. Gwinnup preceded his death on March 8, 2001. Mr. Gwinnup retired from Kraft Foods in 1985 after 22 years of service. He loved photography and taking pictures of his family and collecting cameras and old radios. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Survivors include: Daughter, Linda and Bill Routsong of Kendallville. Daughter, Nancy and David Carter of Kendallville. 8 grandchildren: Melissa and John Owen of Noblesville; Michael and Kimberly Routsong of Lafayette; Elizabeth and Abram Gregory of Brownsburg; Nathan and Tara Routsong of Cedar Hills, Utah; Nicholas Routsong of Cedar Hills, Utah; Jane and Jamathan Cox of Peru, Indiana; Steven and Korey Krieger of Garrett; and Stacy and Mike Fry of Kendallville. 23 great grandchildren. Sister, Janet and Everett Sizemore of Connersville, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by two infant sons, Stephen and Bradley Gwinnup; granddaughter, Julia Ann McKenzie, in July of 1974, and a great granddaughter, Natalie Gregory, in October of 2004.
Services were entrusted to Hite Funeral Home of Kendallville, Indiana.
