GIDEON - In this city, on Sunday, April 13, 1902, Mrs. Lovina Gideon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Hoffman, aged 86 years.
Mrs. [Gideon] was one of the early settlers of this vicinity and was highly respected. The funeral was held on Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. C. B. Brecount. The remains were taken to Osakis for burial.

Their son George W. Gideon was killed in Action in the Dakota War of 1862 in Meeker County, Minnesota.

Another daughter Anna Elizabeth Gideon, b. 1853 in Clinton, DeWitt, Illinois married Thomas W. Hoffman, b. 1854 in Indiana. They also lived in the area - Sauk Centre, Stearns County, MN, and Osakis area, Todd County, MN.

Lavina actually shares the gravestone with two of her young granddaughters, whose names are etched on the opposite side of the stone:
