Dorothy was the third of four children born to Leora Ellen Belliston and Edward Burdette Sperry on February 26, 1927 in Nephi. She attended public schools in Nephi and graduated from Juab High School. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and while she faithfully served in many callings her greatest joy was in ministering to family and friends.
Dorothy married her sweetheart, Clarence Milton Neilsen, on June 3, 1948 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were blessed with three children and were lifelong residents of Mona.
Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and had a lovely voice. In her later years, Dorothy served with her husband, Milton, as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over forty-five years, serving in many positions in that organization.
When Milton died suddenly on August 3, 1996, Dorothy became a widow for over twenty-three years. She was an example to all as she continued on with faith and courage, anxiously waiting to join him in eternity. Her life legacy is one of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Nancy (LaMonte) Dansie, American Fork; son, Allan Neilsen, Highland; and son-in-law, Glenn Greenhalgh, Nephi; as well as ten grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion; daughter, Peggy Ellen Neilsen Greenhalgh; daughter-in-law, Shelly Roeller Neilsen; brother, Kenneth John Sperry; sisters, Elizabeth Jayne Harris and Nancy Leora Sherwood; and great-granddaughter, Allison Faith Neilsen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in the Mona First Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 65 East 100 North, Mona. Friends may call on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, and prior to the services at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
