Centennial, CO - C. Thomas Akin, 75, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. He was born on January 31, 1944 to the late Harry and Marjorie (Day) Akin.

He graduated from the University of Evansville with an Economics and MBA degree where he was also a member of Sigma Phi-Epsilon. Tom was with Whirlpool Corporation for 30 years, most recently as The Director of Sales for the Mountain States Division. He was a Green Beret in the U.S. Army having earned a Bronze Star, Army Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and numerous other decorations from the country of South Vietnam. Tom was the past president of the Downtown Civitan Club, responsible for fund raising, design and building of the Four Freedoms Monument to celebrate the Bicentennial. He enjoyed traveling, sports, and spending time with his seven grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by wife of 48 years, Lana (Barnett) Akin; son, C. Thomas "Tommy" Akin II (Lauren Garbo); granddaughters, Riley and Reese Akin; grandsons, Charles Thomas Akin III and Sean Akin; daughter, Alyson Carlin (Chris); grandsons, Shane and Chase Thomas Carlin; granddaughter, Peyton Carlin; sister, Marjie Akin; nephews, Logan DeWeese, Brody DeWeese, and Hunter DeWeese; brothers, Mic Akin (Bernetia) and Steve Akin; and niece, Crystal Dunn.

A Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Benedict Cathedral, officiated by The Very Rev. Godfrey Mullen OSB, with burial following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday 3:00-7:00 p.m.
