Born Annie May Hughes on December 02, 1916 to Dannie Hughes and Birdie Agnes Lucas in New Columbus (Owen County) Kentucky.

My mother moved to Lexington, KY in April of 1924 with her mother, Birdie Agnes Lucas Hughes, and brothers and sister; William (Bill) Lee Hughes, Dorman Dee Hughes, and Zelma Lillian Hughes (Barnhill, Crowe) to the home of Cora Cummins Haley Lucas and Mary Belle Davis (Cummins Haley)(maternal grandmother and great-grandmother) on Magoffin Street.

She attended Lexington Junior High School but left school to care for her younger brother, Dorman Dee.

In 1938 my mother and father met while she was a waitress at the 'Question Mark' restaurant in Lexington and my father, William Joseph Fryer, was traveling on the thoroughbred horseracing circuit. They were married shortly thereafter.

My parents had two children; Judith Ann Fryer and William Dee (Billy) Fryer, and three grandchildren; DeONa Marie Stratton, Joseph Donald (Jodee) Stratton and Melissa Ann Fryer.

My mother worked for Turf Catering Company at various locations in Lexington including; Memorial Coliseum, Keeneland Race Track, and The Red Mile Trotting Track. She was a favorite waitress to many loyal patrons at Perkins Pancake House on So. Limestone Street in Lexington until her retirement.

Ms. Fryer passed away three months before her 79th birthday on September 2, 1995 from complications of surgery for a broken hip she sustained a few days earlier.

I WISH TO EXPRESS MY SINCERE THANKS TO 'KERRIE' FOR SPONSORING MY DEAR MOTHER'S MEMORIAL...GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS, KERRIE. THERE IS A PLACE RESERVED FOR YOU IN HEAVEN.
