Gladys Evelyn (Mattfeld) Ramus was born May 18, 1931 in Perham, Minnesota to the late Henry and Alice (Greiff) Mattfeld. She attended Country School in Gorman Township and then St. Paul’s Parochial School, graduating from the Perham Public Schools with the Class of 1951.

Gladys moved to Puyallup, Washington to live with her sister and was employed as a housekeeper in mansions and various restaurants. On June 30, 1957 Gladys was united in marriage to Henry Lee Ramus in Vancouver, Washington. They were blessed with two children Deb and Dean. Together they made their home in Vancouver where they raised their family and Gladys was employed in housekeeping and laundry service.

In 1997, the Ramus Family made their home in New York Mills. On May 9, 2004 their son, Dean passed away. Gladys and Henry continued to reside in New York Mills and in 2014 made their home in Perham where they resided in Briarwood and then Perham Living. Glady loved reading the romantic novels, canning and needlework.

On November 14, 2019, Gladys entered eternal rest at Perham Living, Prairie Knoll household. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and all her friends. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; son, Dean; brothers: George Mattfeld, Clarence Mattfeld, Lester Mattfeld; sisters: Laura Mattfeld, Edna Hoefs and Helen Krueger.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Henry Ramus of Perham; daughter Debra (Stanley) Marotz of Perham; 2 grandchildren: Kenny Betts and Kristen Betts; 4 great-grandchildren: Gracelyn Betts, Jayma Lawson, Avery Lintner and Cherry Lawson; sister: Ardeen Bartness of Puyallap, Washington; brother, Alvin (Margaret) Mattfeld of Perham; many other relatives and a host of friends.
