Son of James Urvin Reser and Ruth Medford Reser. He was born on June 23, 1883, in York Township, Darke County, Ohio.
Carl was the brother to Forest Ray (Cap) Reser, Roy Frank Reser, Charles D. Reser, Ethel Reser, Ernest Medford Reser, Hazel Ethel Stellie Reser, Amos Homer Reser, and Isaac Leo Reser.
In 1906 he met Bertha Olive Buxton at a church picnic and they married on January 29, 1907, in Mercer County, Ohio. Together they had four children: Harold (Jack) Leland Reser, Esther Ruth Reser Byrley, Paul A. Reser, and Virginia Mae Reser Yakumithis.
He worked many labor and trade jobs throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan that included farming, blacksmith, furniture refurbisher, sawmill operator, etc. He died at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio on May 1, 1950, at the age of 66. He is buried at Swamp College Cemetery in Celina, Ohio.
