He was of the Baptist faith, retired from the city of Chattanooga and served in the United States Army.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, John and China Boyd; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survived by his wife, Opal Boyd; son, Sammy Boyd, both of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Catherine (Lynn) Allen of Dunlap, TN.
