Edith Lora White, 98, of Carthage, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007, at St. Lukes Nursing Ctr. in Carthage.

Edith was born the daughter of Charles Fletcher "Fletch" Rose and Flora "Krattley" Rose on March 31, 1909, in Avilla. Edith was a Housewife and a lifetime Jasper County resident making homes for her family in Carterville as well as Carthage. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Carthage and served on the Alter Guild and Laides Aid. She was also active in the Carterville Garden Club and the Democratic Party for many years.

Leo C. White and Edith Lora Rose were united in marriage on August 22, 1934, in Carthage. He preceeded her in death February of 1987. Survivors would include one daughter Melva Dean McKnight of Sarcoxie; one Brother Walter Rose of Jackson, Calif.; two grandchildren John L. McKnight and Lori Kent; two great-grandchildren Chris McKnight and Nicole Kent; and one great-great-granddaughter Aubrey McKnight. She was also preceeded in death by one brother Loren Rose, and two Sisters Mary LeMasters and Sylvia Webb.


Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday Evening at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in Edith's memory to Faith Lutheran Church c/o UFH. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks to everyone at St. Lukes. Thank You!!! Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
