John Joseph "Pocky" Bichrest Sr was born on April 21, 1890, in Parchovany, Trebišov, Košice, Slovakia, to parents Paul Bichrest and Susan Cismar.
At the age of 16, John embarked on a journey, arriving in New York on April 8, 1907. He settled in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut, where he was living by 1910.
On June 22, 1913, John married Susanna Varga in Bridgeport. Together, they had several children, including Mary, Anna Cecile, Mary Susanna, John Joseph Jr, and Frances Xavier Bichrest.
John's life was marked by significant events, including his service in World War I, as indicated by his draft registration on June 5, 1917. After Susanna's passing in 1931, John remarried Rose Yaniga in 1936. Sadly, Rose passed away in 1943.
In November 1962, John entered into another marriage, this time with Mae A Davala Mihaylo.
He passed away on October 6, 1979, in Passaic, Passaic, New Jersey. He was laid to rest in Jersey City, New Jersey.
